Boosie is a thespian now
Boosie might not be the first person you think of for the lead in a musical, but he was exactly the person that the producers of the upcoming touring musical Thugs & The Women Who Love Them wanted. Boosie explained his view on the star-studded play in a new interview with VIBE.
“It’s a crazy play, good from the start to curtain call,” he said. “[Thugs & The Women Who Love Them] is a different kind of musical. It’s not a boring play that you would go to. It was written perfectly… I’m a give y’all this hint: Me and Ray J are beefing in there. So, Ray J my enemy in there. First we were business partners, then we become enemies.”
Boosie admitted that he was wholly unfamiliar with the theater world before producers reached out to him for this play. “This is my first rodeo. I didn’t even know what an intermission was in a play,” he said, laughing. “ I was outside and I said ‘Everybody leaving! What’s going on?’ I never been to a play. I thought that they were walking out for some reason.”
In spite of this being Boosie’s first go-round, the Badazz clearly takes his role seriously. He said he likes to use method acting techniques to get himself into the role before he performs.
“Before I do my part, I like to zone out a little bit,” he said. “I make everybody call me ‘Kevin’ backstage, my character’s name — I saw someone do that in Hollywood.”
In addition to Boosie, the play will also feature turns from Ray J, Amina Buddafly, K. Michelle, Jamal Woolard, Lyfe Jennings and Karlie Redd.
It’s all silly
Starring in a hip-hop musical is about the least ridiculous thing that Boosie has landed in the news for in a long while. Let’s not forget that video of him casually looking on during an interview where his friend accidentally set himself on fire. Then there was that whole metaphorical firestorm when he joked about getting his young son a blowjob for his birthday.
After being accused of being a bad father, Boosie went off in a social media rant.
“Everybody in my Dm Sayin I’m a poor father etc. well you’re wrong about that .Im there for my kids from the youngest to the oldest. If you don’t think kids r sexually active at 14 you better wake up it’s 2017,” he began. “Where I’m from girls were pregnant at 13 and 14 on the regular. They had no daddy to talk to them about what’s in boys ,the streets r STDs etc.I have a relationship where I can talk to my teenage kids about anything.
“Most of you women in my Dm who r coming for me never had a father figure in your life, never had a bond with your dad or just don’t want to face reality that it’s 2017 n kids r sexually active at that age. Its up to us as parents to have sit downs with our teenagers to learn what they r going through in all aspects of there life.
“Most of you men coming at me don’t do sh*t for your kids smh U will never understand a bond with a child because your child has no respect for you n your absence in they life n they don’t trust you at all. Your babymoma is they father, mother n best friend. While you typing words to me u should be writing an apology to your child for being U (a sperm donor). Y’all can never be the daddy I am.”
