8 minutes of pure dopeness
Yesterday, I was scrolling down my Facebook timeline, when I came across a status that read: “Big Sean is THE MOST slept on, underrated, major artist out right now. Dude can out rap like 80% of the game and he picks the right tracks. We’re not even gonna talk about the collab album with Jhene.” And I couldn’t have agreed more.
Big Sean is one of my favorite rappers and a super-talented artist. But he doesn’t get the recognition deserves. His first three projects were crazy successful, not to mention, his last album, Dark Sky Paradise (my fave), was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). If you’re one of those who have been under a rock, thinking this dude isn’t nice, maybe you’ll change your mind after hearing his latest freestyle on Hot 97.
I Decided is Big Sean’s fourth studio album. It’s his first concert album which tells the story of a man who’s reborn and gets to live his life from a different perspective. Released today, the 14-track album features guest appearances by Jeremiah, Eminem, Jhene Aiko, The-Dream, Migos, and more.
He Visits Hot 97
On Thursday, Big Sean stopped by Hot 97 studios to chop it up with Funk Flex and to promote the new album. While there, Flex asked Sean to kick a hot freestyle for the listeners. Sean was happy to do so.
The Detroit rapper got on the mic and spat fire bars over the beats of Freeway’s “What We Do,” Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm,” and Nas’ “Oochie Wally.” His 8-minute freestyle pretty much solidified the stamp that he’s a dope ass rapper. You gotta see it next.
