Bad Girl Naya
Though Big Sean is happily loving Jhené Aiko all out in the open now, about three years ago, he was loving someone else. The “Bounce Back” rapper was engaged to Naya Rivera in the early months of 2014. By April of that year though, the two split, calling off their engagement.
“Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately. We will not be commenting again on this matter,” a rep for Big Sean commented shortly after the breakup, making it seem peaceful. Then, a year later, “I Don’t F–k with You” dropped…
The track seemed to be a five-minute-long rant about how much he did not f–k with his ex. It was riddled with subliminal disses like: “I heard you got a new man, I see you takin’ a pic/Then you post it up, thinkin’ that it’s makin’ me sick, brr, brr/I see you calling, I be makin’ it quick/I’mma answer that sh-t like ‘I don’t f–k with you.'”
The song became a break-up anthem, but its hype eventually settled down. Sean moved on as did Naya, who married actor Ryan Dorsey about three months after her and Sean’s split. The Glee actress went on to have a baby boy with her husband in 2015 — now-two-year-old Josey Hollis Dorsey.
Though things between Sean and Naya have been quiet, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are on good terms. Reports that Naya had been arrested for beating her husband hit the internet over the weekend, alongside some possible shade from Big Sean.
While in West Virginia visiting Ryan’s parents for Thanksgiving, the couple reportedly started arguing over their child while on a walk with the two-year-old. After Naya became physically violent — hitting Ryan in his face and on his head — the 34-year-old father called the police to report Naya for abuse.
After showing the cops a video of his wife attacking him, authorities took Naya into custody around 9:30 PM. The star now faces domestic battery charges, though her father-in-law reportedly picked her up from the station after she was released on a $1,000 bond.
Sean, hearing the news about his ex’s arrest at the same time as everyone else, hit her with another subliminal diss. The I Decided rapper posted a meme-video of a young girl happily repeating “I told y’all.” Though it had no caption, spectators immediately assumed that the meme was referencing Naya.
Love at Last
This news comes after Sean and Jhené were rumored to be engaged themselves. While neither artist has confirmed that they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, Big Sean was caught with some jewelry on his left hand… on the finger reserved for engagement/wedding bands. A photo posted onto Jermaine Dupri’s Instagram page Halloween night shows him and Sean costumed in ’80s apparel and a thin band on Sean’s hand.
Though photos of Jhené wearing a ring on her left hand have yet to pop up, the singer has a generously-sized tattoo of Sean on her arm. Though the tattoo seemed out-of-pocket to some, Jhené felt it was appropriate because he’s an important part of her life outside of their romantic relationship.
“I feel like with Sean we were friends for so long before we started dating that we are friends before anything and it’s easy for me to separate our friendship from our relationship if that makes sense,” she said about Sean during an interview with Complex. “And that’s the closest thing I’ve had to that type of connection since I lost my brother, and then there is the romantic part of it too.”
