Back in 2016 — just after Bobby was handed down his seven-year-long sentence after pleading guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession — the rapper expressed his disdain with the legal system. “I was forced to take this sentence, I did not want to take this sentence,” Shmurda said at the time, according to Billboard. “I was forced by my attorney to take this plea.”
“They lied to me,” he added. The rapper simply had to take what he was given; as a part of the plea deal he agreed to, he waived his rights to appeal.
His mother spoke up shortly after the sentencing, saying, “You don’t have any rights in that courtroom.”
“It’s heartbreaking. It’s disappointing,” she continued.
