A community battling within itself always does more harm than good. With this in mind ― especially with all that’s going on in the world ― seeing ultra-positivity within the hip-hop family is enough to make a young music fan’s heart sing. From Yo Gotti revealing his genuinely positive advice to fellow rapper Young Dolph to Chris Brown refusing to clap back after Charlamagne tha God slammed him, the hip-hop world is thriving.
Gucci Mane and Keshia are married and living their best life in Atlanta. Offset and Cardi are engaged. Beyoncé is reportedly playing Nyla in Disney’s live-action version of Lion King. And… During a recent concert, A$AP Rocky paused his show to settle a dispute between two fans who were fighting in the crowd.
The “Fashion Killa” rapper brought Vic, 21, and Anthony, 17, on stage and gave them a lesson in getting along. In a video provided by Zac French Photography, the rapper can be seen in all black, standing between the two fans.
“Iigh, first of all, he’s 17 so you not supposed to be fighting him anyway,” Rocky began. “Chill out, chill out. Because when I was seventeen, I was fighting muhf*ckas… 28, 29, sometimes you lose, sometimes you win, but you still fight, you feel me?” he continued after the crowd yelled in disapproval.
“At an A$AP show, y’all are considered family, you feel me?” the rapper, born Rakim Mayers, proclaimed. “It don’t matter who talk first, you supposed to swing because you in a moshpit. You supposed to come here to get out your anger in life, bro. You paid money to celebrate us and celebrate yourself. This is culture, you know what I’m saying? This is not just music.”
Quiet Bloody Moves
Though the A$AP Mob rapper has not released an album since 2015, he’s been quietly making major moves. After their first three collabs of ’90s-vintage-influenced apparel, Rocky and Guess decided to give it another go. The New York native, who is known for being super fashion savvy, released his fourth line with the retail chain in October. The line, which includes pieces for males and females, came just in time for fall, selling long-sleeved tees, denim jackets, and sweatshirts.
French Montana has also been teasing fans about releasing a project by himself and A$AP Rocky. During an interview Montreality, the Excuse My French artist revealed that fans can expect the collab “real soon.”
All For the Fans
Rocky isn’t the only artist who looks out for his fans. Back in early September, Travis Scott paused his show after a security guard roughly snatched a young fan off stage. The excited fan jumped on stage, several feet from Travis, as the rapper performed an a capella version of “Goosebumps.” After the guard yanked him down, Travis calmly corrected him.
“Hold on, hold on, hold on,” he said, quieting the entire room. “Don’t ever touch my fans like that. He know what he trying to do. We know what he trying to do.” The fan hopped back on stage, pointing and nodding at the Houston rapper, but the guard still had a hold of his arm. “Let him go,” Travis said, looking at the guard. The crowd screamed with praise and love for Travis, as he began performing again.
