He's definitely dealt with worse
Cassidy is wanted by police after failing to appear for a court date. The Philadelphia MC was arrested back in November over possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The arrest went down in New Jersey, and Cassidy was meant to be appear in court last week. He never made it out.
Now, there’s a warrant out for his arrest.
The original arrest went down in the strangest possible location, Cassidy’s own driveway. He was allegedly sitting in the front seat of his car in front of his home in Jersey City when cops picked up the smell of marijuana. They say they found him with marijuana and a grinder on his lap. They also said that he had a joint in clear view of officers on the dashboard.
The Philadelphia rapper has been through worse.
At the beginning of his career, Cassidy was staring down a charge of murder. He’d already dropped “Hotel” and “I’m A Hustla” but had yet to make it to his giant hit “Drink N My 2 Step,” and he was looking at the possibility of life in prison.
In April of 2005, Cassidy fired on a group of men during an argument. He, along with two other heavily armed men, shot at another trio of dudes in Philadelphia’s West Oak Lane.
All three of the men who were fired on were unarmed and one of them died from the incident. Cassidy was charged with murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, conspiracy and weapons possession. He surrendered to police after the warrant was issued.
There’s no telling if that’s what he’ll do now that he has another warrant out.
Back in 2005, Cassidy said that he owned the weapons but was not involved in the incident. The case came unraveled after a primary witness rescinded their testimony. While that killed the murder case, Cassidy did go down for charges of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime. He served 15 months in prison.
Shortly after that, Cassidy got in a horrific car accident that left him in a coma.
“I was in a coma for about seven or eight days,” he told MTV. “And then they put me into a medicated coma, so that if I woke up I wouldn’t be traumatized by what I went through.”
He said that he couldn’t remember his own songs when he woke up from the coma.
“When I first woke up out of my coma, I had amnesia, so I couldn’t really remember everything. I didn’t have full amnesia; I could remember certain things,” he said. “The only people I really knew were my mom, my son, people that’s real close that you knew all your life. I knew their names but even certain experiences I couldn’t remember at first. I couldn’t remember none of my raps, even the songs I performed — ‘Hotel,’ ‘I’m a Hustla,’ none of that.”
What we’re saying is, Cassidy has lived through worse than an arrest warrant for failure to appear. Here’s hoping the rapper comes out the other side alright and doesn’t land on a judge who wants to set an example.
