Gets dragged by cast members
Angela Simmons isn’t doing such a good job of being a team player on the Growing Up Hip Hop cast. Earlier this season, Angela walked away while filming a controversial scene with co-star Briana Latrise. Apparently she didn’t want to deal with whatever drama was going to come from the situation. Isn’t that the whole point of a reality show? To deal with drama?
Not for the preacher’s daughter it isn’t.
Angela wants to film the scenes she wants to film and it seems the show’s producers are getting sick of it.
The beef between Briana and Angela has been going on for “many moons.” It all started when a mutual friend of the two, invited Briana to hang out with Angela. When Briana and friend arrived to pick up Angela (in a limo no less), Angela looked into the car at Briana and said there wasn’t enough room. We’re not buying it, though, and neither is Briana. According to her, “That b–ch thinks she’s too good to know me. That’s all.”
Off the Rails
Producers attempted to have the two speak at an event on the show, but that went awry almost instantly as Angela didn’t like how Briana spoke to her. If you’re not familiar with that interaction, here’s a flashback of the conversation:
Briana: What up?
Angela: Nice to meet you!
Briana: We already met.
Angela: When? What do you mean?
Briana: It was definitely many moons ago.
Angela: How old were we?
Briana: B—h, I don’t know how old you are now!
Apparently, Angela has never heard the word b–ch before, or been called one. She immediately went off on producers accusing them of trying to set her up. “This is not Love & Hip Hop,” she says. “I’m not gonna have no one disrespect me. She cannot talk to me like that. I’m not fighting anybody. I don’t get down like that. I shook her hand and she’s gonna be nasty to me? I’m not dealin’ with no ratchet s–t. Y’all are never putting me in a scene with her!” she said. And apparently she meant it.
During last night’s episode of GUHH, Briana decided that she wanted to clear the air with Kristinia and Angela. She got some advice from her counselor on how to handle the situation. The counselor asked Briana if she had anything in common with the other women, but Briana wasn’t sure. She said that their energy rubs her the wrong way. Although she said she understands that she can come off “a certain way” with people, Briana still feels her energy is real. Unlike Angela and Kristinia.
After talking with the counselor for a while, Briana realized that she is dealing with “abandonment issues” which is fair. The reality star is recovering from an abusive relationship, she’s not speaking to her father or step-mother, and she feels she has no one. She realized that her ongoing family issues are likely why she keeps people at a distance, that is why she doesn’t let people in. She seems convinced that everyone will eventually leave her life and it will probably be at the moment she needs them the most.
Briana finally realized that she never gave Angela and Kristina an opportunity, because she had a preconceived notion about who they are. Amazingly, she decided that it was time to make amends.
But not everyone is willing to receive it.
The Swerve: Part Two
Luckily, TJ Mizell, son of the late Jam Master J, decided to throw a “Dopeland” party. He invited the whole gang, and Briana thought it would be the only opportunity she would have to reconcile with Angela.
“I’m trying to work the s–t out. I’m trying to turn over a new leaf. I done went to bible study. I got some Jesus all up in me, and s–t,” Briana said in her confessional. “This is gonna be the night. Where I can talk to this woman. And let her know, that I’m not a complete f—ing a–hole. I just come off a little abrasive and I apologize.”
Unfortunately, she never got the chance to speak with Angela. The minute Angela saw Briana walk in, she cut her conversation with Pepa, and immediately ran to producers. “Why is Briana here? I’m not doing that s–t!” she said. She started to walk out of the event leaving everyone inside puzzled ― especially Pepa who was in mid conversation with an angry Angela. In her confessional interview, Angela said: “Ya’ll know what happened. I’m not dealing with her tonight. No. Nope!”
Producers asked Angela not to walk out, but she couldn’t care less. As she continued to walk away, producers announced to the crew that Angela was leaving the scene. They followed her down the street to attempt to speak with her, but she declined.
“Don’t follow me with your cameras,” Angela said. “Take your mic off!” She turned the corner down the street and disappeared.
When Briana realized she’d lost her chance, she didn’t know what to do. “I’m trying to be a good person here. She ran out of that b—h so fast, you would have thought I was the police and she had 16 warrants!” the star said.
