The new movie All Eyez on Me was supposed to be a huge hit. It has had some of the biggest hype for a hip-hop related movie since Straight Outta Compton, and many people were expecting another hit. Unfortunately it seems like that might not be happening. The movie opened up with a great first week in the box office, but the reviews aren’t so great. Even celebrities like 50 Cent and Jada Pinkett Smith are taking shots at the movie, but what do the producers have to say about that?
The new biopic All Eyez on Me has been one of the most anticipated hip-hop films of all time, and for good reason. The movie follows the life of the legendary Tupac Shakur, and that’s something that tons of people know they want to see. Unfortunately, the movie hasn’t been getting great reviews after it’s release, and celebrities are getting in on the criticism.
The mixed reviews were bad enough, but when big named celebrities start to trash your movie, it can be a huge factor in it’s reception. The people behind All Eyez on Me had to deal with rapper 50 Cent talking bad about the movie just last week on Instagram.
He took to social media to voice his opinion on the movie, and he said, “Man I watched the 2 PAC film, that was some bullsh*t. Catch that sh*t on a fire stick trust me. LOL SMH TRASH.”
Jada Pinkett Smith felt like the film’s portrayal of both herself and Tupac was way off. Jada is portrayed by Kat Graham in the movie, and she’s been blasting the production for telling completely inaccurate stories. Jada was a good friend of Tupac’s when he was alive, so she knows what she’s talking about here.
She took to Twitter to explain everything, tweeting, “Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth.” She continued, ” Pac never read me that poem. I didn’t know that poem existed until it was printed in his book. Pac never said goodbye to me before leaving for L.A. He had to leave abruptly and it wasn’t to pursue his career. I’ve never been to any of Pac’s shows by his request. We never had an argument backstage. The reimagining of my relationship to Pac is deeply hurtful.”
The movie producers should have probably checked with Jada before making all these assumptions…
