This switches things up.
The Meek Mill and Drake feud still tugs at the heartstrings of hip hop fans almost a year after the two sparked their beef. While many can argue that Drizzy came out on top, between the two going blow-for-blow, some have other opinions about the exchange. 50 Cent recently spoke out about the beef, and he revealed a new perspective on the rappers going at each other in the last year.
Drake and Meek Mill had a huge falling out last year
Last year, Meek Mill called out Drake on Twitter, accusing the rapper of using a ghostwriter for his feature verse that went on Meek’s album. While Meek went on a Twitter tirade, Drizzy came at him hard with two diss tracks, which the public deemed as a near career-ender for the Philly rapper.
DJ Drama revealed the reason why Meek blasted Drizzy
During a recent interview, DJ Drama recently spoke out about the beef, and disclaimed his role in Meek and Drake’s feud. The Southern hip hop star revealed that Meek believed that Drizzy was taking a shot at him over his girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, on the Toronto rapper’s “R.I.C.O.” verse. Drama wanted to calm Meek down over his anger, so he revealed to him that the verse was not actually written by Drizzy. This led to Meek blasting him on social media, and their beef sparking.
50 Cent talked about the beef on the Drink Champs podcast
While stopping by the Drink Champs podcast with N.O.R.E., 50 Cent talked about the beef, where he revealed his raw thoughts. He says that the beef had “no threat level” being that Drake’s diss track, “Back To Back,” was nominated for a Grammy. He said, “I just don’t see none of them doing that…I can’t really see a threat level with [them]…When you see them give Drake an award. When he gets the award for the record means they viewed it as if it was art for the first time. The competitive nature of our culture in Hip Hop, they viewed it as art. And honored it. Because they didn’t see the threat level in what he was saying.”
