Is Diddy a thief?
112 stopped by The Breakfast Club today and, as always, Diddy was on the menu. In a wide ranging conversation that covered the Jagged Edge beef, the sound of ‘90s R&b and their current touring, the group found the time to talk about their former taskmaster.
Though Diddy brought the group up and put them on in the early ‘90s, they split with a huge amount of bad blood between themselves and Diddy in the early 2000s.
“We were a priority at certain times,” Daron Jones admitted to MTV at the time of their split. “But when you dealing with a label where the CEO is trying to be an artist also, it just leaves the question mark to where the focus is. If you put yourself in a situation where you have your own label and one day you decide to be an artist yourself, where would you spend your marketing and promotion dollars? It has been frustrating over the years trying to deal with that.”
They provided the proof of that in today’s interview. Mike of 112 said that Diddy jacked the melody of “DIDDY” from a song that the group was working on. Other members admitted that he stole their moves while they traveled on the Bad Boy tour.
A Series of Roasts
112 is far from the only group roasting Diddy right now. It looks to be dragging season. After XXL put a photo of the mogul on the cover for their 20th anniversary celebration, 50 Cent crawled out of his Petty Betty playhouse to jump all over the rapper and businessman.
50, who is known for always speaking his mind, didn’t hold any of thoughts back after he saw Diddy’s cover photo. In a now-deleted Instagram post, 50 gave his followers something to laugh at.
“N**ga tried to make his eyes look all glossy, This n**ga a fruit biscuit. LOL,” he wrote in an Instagram caption.
50 followed that up with a picture of Sean Combs alongside a dog, captioning it, “N**ga you ain’t got no hazel eyes, unless that’s like cataracts or some s**t. LOL.”
We doubt that Diddy has much time to care, however. He’s a busy man, and his hustle helped to land him a spot on Forbes list of the “100 Greatest Business Minds.” While 50 was busy calling his fellow entrepenuer a fruit biscuit, Diddy was penning a blurb about how he worked his way up to be one of the best-known businessmen in the world.
“I started my business career at age 12, delivering newspaper,” he told the magazine. “I had a lot of elderly customers, so I would always put the newspaper in between the screen door and the door — that caring made me different, made me better than the last paperboy. Since then, I’ve always understood that if I give the customers my best and service them differently, whether music, clothing or vodka, I’ll get a return on my hard work.”
Watch the Clip
Watch the video up top and let us know what you think? Did Diddy really snatch that melody and the moves from 112? Keep in mind he was famous for lifting stuff back in the day, even Saturday Night Live felt the need to point it out with a sketch where he tries to pass off Tears for Fears’ “Shout” as his own feelings in a therapy session.
