Last week, Nicki Minaj released a couple new tracks: “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun Li”. Some speculatethe the tracks will be featured on her long-anticipated studio album, NM4*, but nothing is certain at this point. The crowd favorite of the two has definitely been “Chun Li” which has been generating a lot of hype.

The track was so well-received that even some of Nicki’s past critics have given her props for the hit. Nicki celebrated this praise through an Instagram post which includes multiple videos of her said critics showing love, and has a lengthy caption where she shares how she feels. Check it out below:

”Wait hold on. Yo did hell freeze over? wait I wasn’t in NY so idk if this rlly happened. This COULD be a fake video. ♀️ Were bombs dropped on #ChunLi? Did Flex say this record #HARD????? Did Joe say this record #HARD? Did Rosenberg say #QUEEN????? Man, all I’ll say is THANK YOU. Takes real niggaz to do this. I don’t mind criticism, but hating on smthn that’s clearly hard AF will only make you look less credible, miserable, & prove your issues are PERSONAL & unwarranted. So respect to everyone showin love. I haven’t asked anyone to promote my music. Haven’t buttered anyone up behind the scenes, haven’t booked their show, reached out, NOTHING! I simply dropped music & hoped that the REAL ones (even ppl who’ve said negative things in the past) would acknowledge & give credit when/where it’s due. I wrote #BarbieTingz AND #ChungLi verses & HOOKS on BOTH; but I’m most proud that as a young black female rapper, I signed a producer and CO-Produced #BarbieTingz WITH him. S/O @jreidtheproducer. I do a lot of co producing & post production but that overall picture isn’t usually painted of me as an artist; so Id be lying if I said this doesn’t feel great. Check out these 3 videos & click the link in my bio”

It’s unclear who the person is in the first video, but what’s important is that he’s tuned into Hot 97 while Funk Flex is DJ’ing. You can hear “Chun Li” start to play, but is interrupted by Funk Flex’s iconic bomb sound. Whenever Flex drops a bomb on a track he plays, it’s the sound of his co-sign, and generally gives instant clout to whoever is playing. Flex can be heard on the radio to say “this beat is hard”, but another video shows him paying formal respect to her. See the video below.

Flex had previously taken shots at Nicki Minaj in the past, calling her out as a trash artist and commentating on Remy Ma’s “SHEther” in a play-by-play radio roast on Nicki. Here, Funk Flex admits that her new music has proven him wrong in his prior assertion, and admits that the music grew on him as he listened.

The next video in Nicki’s Instagram post shows Joe Budden on a recorded Instagram Live session. “Nicki is crazy… That songs hard though, hold up”, Joe says. He starts playing the track, and he and his lady friend start bumping to it.

In the past, Joe Budden has thrown shade at Nicki Minaj on the show he used to co-host, Everyday Struggle. He threw another jab at Nicki on the 2017 episode of This Year Was Dope/Trash, too. Although he didn’t have an outright admission of guilt like DJ Funk Flex did, Budden’s video was enough to make Nicki happy.

The last video in Nicki’s Instagram post showed a video recorded by Peter Rosenberg playing the “Chun-Li” track in his car in traffic. He stays silent for most of the clip, but says “queen” before the video cuts out. Nicki’s issue with Rosenberg started back at Summer Jam 2012, when Peter takes a direct shot at Nicki and her song “Starship”, making the claim that it wasn’t real hip-hop. Check it out in the video below.

Even though Rosenberg reverse the damage of the diss after the fact, bad blood still lingered to some degree, though that friction has been eased some by Rosenberg’s latest shout out. Nicki’s caption was enough to show how happy she was about all of the praise that she got from her former critics, and probably gives her motivation to outdo herself in the future. Nicki recently dropped a music video for the track, which was shot entirely as a vertical selfie. See the video below. We’ll keep you posted on any Nicki Minaj updates!
