Buddhist Monks Break Dance In Honor of Beastie Boy’s Adam Yauch

Beastie Boy, Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch died 2 years ago on May 4 after a long battle with salivary gland cancer and this past weekend, people gathered in New York City for MCA Day, “an event born from a global community built on GRATITUDE to celebrate the life of Adam Yauch.”

In tribute to the musician and humanitarian, four men in particular made the annual event one to remember. Dressed as Buddhist monks, they breakdanced to the Beastie Boys song “Ch-Check It Out”.

MCA was a devout Buddhist who was involved in the Tibetan independance moment. He created the Milarepa Fund, a non-profit organization devoted to Tibetan independance and organized several benefit concerts such as the Tibetan Freedom Concert, to support the cause.
