Young M.A is a rapper out of East Brooklyn, New York. Around age 7, she moved with her mother out of New York to Chesterfield, Virginia, where she started rapping at the age of 9. While she was there, she joined a rap group called the Moneymakers.

She moved back to New York around age 17, around the same time her brother passed away in Virginia due to a gang-related incident. She credits her brother as being one of her biggest inspirations. In the beginning of her career, she funded her studio time by working at Shake Shack and T.J. Maxx.

In 2014, Young M.A was featured on a freestyle to Nicki Minaj and Lil Herb’s “Chiraq,” which went viral and provided a foundation to her growing rap career. After she released two mixtapes the next year, she released her hit debut single “Ooouuu,” which went triple platinum and has over 250M views on YouTube. She reps Redlyfe, the Red standing for “Repent EveryDay.”
