Papoose is a rapper from Bed Stuy in Brooklyn, New York. His first public appearance in music was on Kool G Rap’s “Thug Connection” track on his Roots of Evil album. Papoose made a name for himself in the hip-hop scene after approaching DJ Kay Slay outside the Hot 97 radio station and trying to promote his own mixtape. After Kay Slay signed him to Streetsweepers Entertainment, Papoose released over a dozen mixtapes between 2004 and 2006.

In 2005, he won the Justo Mixtape Award for Best Underground Artist. In 2006, he signed a $1.5M contract with Jive Records, but never released an album during his time with the label. Instead, he continued to release a plethora of mixtapes before dropping his debut album, The Nacirema Dream, in 2013 under his own label, Honor B4 Money Records. His last album was released in 2005, titled, You Can’t Stop Destiny.

Before this, he released nearly 30 mixtapes altogether. Papoose is married to fellow rapper Remy Ma, and the couple has been featured on Love & Hip Hop: New York and are now expecting their first child together.
