Joyner Lucas is a rapper from Worcester, Massachusetts. According to rollingout.com, Joyner knew he wanted to rap by age eight. Originally G-Storm, Joyner changed his moniker to Future Joyner when he formed a group with his uncle, Cyrus the Great, called Film Skool Rejekts. They released their first work in 2007, titled, Workprint: The Greatest Mixtape of All Time.

Four years later and under the same name, Joyner released his first solo mixtape, titled, Listen 2 Me. After releasing his second mixtape under his current name a year later, Joyner’s third mixtape, Along Came Joyner, released in 2015. The mixtape includes one of his most famous songs. The song, “Ross Capicchioni,” details the true story of a teenager getting shot by his friend and nearly dying through a first-person perspective, and includes a music video shot in the first-person perspective as well. The music video has nearly 7M views on YouTube.

Joyner signed a deal with Atlantic Records in 2016, and released his latest mixtape the next year, titled, 508-507-2209. The mixtape placed #7 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album Chart. Joyner Lucas went on to put out his most famous song to date the next year, titled “I’m Not Racist.” The song deals with issues of race and social issues, giving the perspective of a black man and a white man. The song has been met with mixed reviews, but has garnered over 43M views on YouTube.
