The South Florida native has been making waves as one of the most talented emerging artists on the independent scene with a style that can’t be put into a box. Jay Burna’s introduction to rap came after moving from Los Angeles to South Florida when he was a kid. Starting in 2008, he went on a torrid mixtape run, dropping several tapes, working with the likes of Kid Ink, Zoey Dollaz, Bizzy Crook and Khalil, and building a sizeable buzz in the Southeast. In 2015, he put out his debut independent album, Fear Is a Lie, which reached No. 45 on iTunes’ album chart. The LP featured the sultry breakout-single, “Ready,” which was picked up on MTV and VH1.
Jay set off to realize his destiny, while traveling country with Curren$y on his Pilot Talk 3 Tour. Jay scored a hit with his subsequent loose single, “Mood,” in 2016, which charted #119 on urban radio and #19 on the indie label chart. In 2017 he triumphed with his track, “Melrose,” an ode to the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. neighborhood. Melrose was produced by Grammy-nominated beat maker, Unkle Steve, the bubbling single has raked in over 3 million streams on SoundCloud.
On March 9th, 2018 Jay Burna released a single titled, “Mine All Mine,” featuring Justin Bieber’s right hand, Khalil & Emmy nominated songwriter Alex Star. The response from his fans, industry professional and tastemakers has been so positive and instrumental in the growth of his single. The song is available on all major platforms and getting great engagement from fans for its sound and catchy lyrics. Jay Burna shows no signs of slowing down as he gears up for the release of his upcoming project titled, Trophy. Trophy will not disappoint, as it was produced by LA Reid’s son Aaron, and features fellow Floridians Trina & Def Jams Lajan Slim, to name a few.
