Casanova 2X on Stabbing 12 Inmates, Beating Cellmates, Doing 7.5 Years
Casanova is a rapper out of the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He was the youngest of 10 on his mother’s side, and 12 on his Father’s. After 8th grade, Casanova didn’t return to school and became involved in gang life. He served a total of three stints at Rikers Island, on the third of which he met fellow rapper A$AP Rocky as a cellmate. After serving roughly 7.5 years, he was released in 2014.
After he was sent back to Rikers for a crime he didn’t commit, he decided to make a change and got a job at Local 79. In 2015, Casanova recorded a freestyle over Yo Gotti’s “Down in the DMs” beat, becoming his first track on Soundcloud and subsequently accelerated his rap career.
In 2016, he recorded and released the song “Don’t Run,” which got substantial airtime on the radio and put him on the map in the NY hip-hop scene. Since then, Casanova has released his debut mixtape, “Be Safe Tho.”
