Say goodbye to New Music Tuesdays and hello to New Music Fridays! The music industry is transitioning from releasing new music on Tuesday to releasing all new music on Fridays. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) who is considered to be the voice of the music industry represents over 1,300 record companies worldwide announced the changes earlier this year in hopes to cut down on piracy and also to increase artist album sales.

Prior to making the changes, the IFPI also considered the fact that most people are mostly listening to music on all the popular streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud etc. So, Fridays would be a better day for artists to release their new material. Hopefully, for all the new artists who are struggling to get noticed, this will be a good move by the IFPI. This should be a good thing for the old artists who are struggling to sell records in today’s digital world as well. we’ll see!
