A big development just occurred in XXXTentacion’s current legal situation. On Wednesday, March 21, X’s lawyer revealed that a Florida judge has approved his request to be taken off house arrest. The basis of the request was founded on his alleged need to make a living, which would take the form of touring in support of his new album, titled ?.

X is currently facing 15 felony charges, which include domestic battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment and witness tampering. He was originally arrested on October 8, 2016 after allegedly brutalizing his girlfriend extensively over a long period of time, in which he allegedly beat her threatened to kill her multiple times. Although X pleaded not guilty to the charges brought to him, he was still detained for violating a house arrest agreement related to home invasion and weapon possession charges he caught back in 2015. X was released from prison on December 20 and placed under house arrest once again, scheduled to last for two months. Still, X was allowed to travel to and from the studio to fulfill contractual obligations.

For one reason or another, that scheduled two months seems to have extended into late March, as news of his release from house arrest broke on March 21. Even if X goes on tour, he will still be subject to monthly alcohol and drug testing, and will be obligated to submit a travel itinerary to his Parole Officer.

X’s attorney, David Bogenschutz, says that X and his legal team are very pleased with the court’s decision to suspend his house arrest, and says, “hopefully these are the first steps towards complete freedom.” According to TMZ, Bogenschutz says the decision was warranted on X’s “performance” the last few months.

While it’s unclear what his attorney his referring to, it’s not hard to guess. XXXTentacion recently spoke with DJ Akademiks in an interview, in which he promised to donate toys, clothing, and music equipment to foster homes. He also promised to donate “at least a hundred thousand” to charity for domestic abuse. In addition to his donations, X advertised a benefit concert for the victims of the recent Parkland school shooting. X has also recently announced that he’s going to college.

The benefit concert was scheduled to occur on March 18, which is strange considering he was still on house arrest at this time. In the same. Continuing the theme of positivity, X squashed a simmering beef he had with Trippie Redd at the concert, calling him “an amazing artist” and letting the crowd know that he loves Trippie, even if he hated him.

At the concert, XXXTentacion showed an awareness of his negative actions, saying “I was not a good person, but I’ve been trying my best to change myself.” Taking all of his recent history into account, do you believe he’s telling the truth?
