On Tuesday, XXXTentacion announced via Instagram story that he’s going to college. The video post included the caption “IM GOING TO COLLEGE BABY!!! GETTING THIS GED AND SURPASSING THOSE BEFORE ME”, and includes audio of a hyped-up X letting the world know how he feels about the news:

“I never thought I would ever say this, but I’m excited to go to college… I will do better than those before me… I WILL SURPASS ALL OF YOU!! I’M GOING TO COLLEGE!!”

This isn’t X’s first announcement about his pursuit of higher education. Back in mid-February, XXXTentacion made another Instagram story post that said “I’ll be distant for a little while my friends and family, I’m going back to school and enrolling in art school as well, on my way to becoming a better me”.

While it’s unclear when he will receive his GED or which art school he will be attending, his announcements follow a trend of positivity in his actions as of late. Back in January, X made good on a promise he made in an interview with DJ Akademiks by donating instruments, clothing and toys to a foster home and allegedly donating “at least a hundred thousand” to charity for domestic abuse. In the interview, X explains how he feels his court case has tarnished his name, and that he seeks to “make up for it”.

More recently, X has advertised a benefit concert called “A Helping Hand”, the profits of which will be going to help the survivors of the Parkland school shooting. The performance is scheduled for March 18 at Club Cinema in Pompano Beach, Florida. Additionally, X released a song titled “Hope” on February 21 via SoundCloud, which is dedicated to the survivors of the school shooting.

On a related note, don’t be surprised if XXXTentacion’s SoundCloud goes quiet. X made a statement via Instagram story shortly after he posted the song “Hope”, claiming that he will never upload to SoundCloud again. While the song “Hope” can still be found on his profile, X says that SoundCloud removed the song at one point, and he had this to say in response:

I am never, and I repeat never uploading to SoundCloud ever again, I am tired of being sabotaged off of the charts, this is the third time a fake claim has been made on one of my songs, sorry kids, SoundCloud removed my song “hope,” if you want to listen to my music from now on you’re going to have to go to Spotify or Apple, I’m done with SoundCloud.

Even if X is soon to be tied up with his academic pursuits, his sophomore album, ?, is set to release this Friday, giving his fans something to chew on during his potential future hiatus.
