History has proven that Kanye West and award shows is what you call a recipe for disaster. From his stage antics in 2009 during Taylor Swift acceptance speech for Video of The Year, to most recently, during the 57th Annual Grammy Awards during Beck’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year. Hopefully, Karma won’t catch up with him on Sunday, considering he will be the recipient of the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, which is sometimes known as the Lifetime Achievement Award, is given to musicians who have made a profound effect on MTV culture, honoring an artist’s body of work from music to music videos. Undoubtedly, despite his actions sometimes, Kanye is well deserving of this award for a career that has had global impact and influence. Other artists that have one this prestigious award Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, amongst others.
What do you think about Kanye West receiving the Vanguard award? Do you think it’s well deserved or he still has much to accomplish? Sound off and let us know your thoughts.
