In light of recent events within hip-hop, from diss tracks and more, let’s just be clear: it is not rap beef if you are indirectly addressing a situation. The person or individuals must be addressed where there’s no second-guessing as to ‘who’ the rapper is talking about.
On the topic of talking about rap beef/diss records, let’s talk about one of the best hip-hop rap beefs where lyrical content was at its finest: Jadakiss Vs. Beanie Sigel! Lyrical bars were exchanged daily with numerous freestyles addressing all issues and parties involved and these two gents brought rap back to a gladiator sport where you were only as good as what you wrote. This beef stayed in art form and did not reach the streets with violence; call it a good ol’ competitive sport.
Do you think the Meek vs. Drake verbal battle will be ranked as entertaining and competitive? If you’re a fan of hip-hop and rap being a competitive sport, please SHARE with other hip-hop heads.
