Tommy Hilfiger Wants Chance the Rapper to Wear His Clothes

Tommy Hilfiger would love to see more hip-hop artists wearing his clothes. The well-known designer attended the Hot Pink Party in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness on May 17th and commented on his future muses. That night, Mary J. Blige took the stage as the featured entertainment for the event.

“My favorite Mary J. Blige song is ‘What’s the 411?’ with Grand Puba,” Hilfiger stated about his love for her music. His wife is fan as well, allegedly “hitting the dance floor” when her songs come on.

Hilfiger aims towards a less clean-cut, more streetwear direction for the Tommy brand. He has managed to have some of his products worn by DJ Khaled and Playboi Carti. To reach a broader demographic, Tommy Hilfiger has collaborated with Vetements recently. This partnership collection has shown most success in the graphic hoodies.

The breakout Tommy x Gigi collection has been a successful enterprise for Hilfiger as well. While the 23-year-old model designed alongside him, he got a fresh take on the apparel industry’s current state in this generation. It’s definitely a sharp contrast to his polished Ralph Lauren Polo days. Yet, the last runway show was a major success, more or less due to the A-List names modelling the pieces. Among the models were Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, and Hailey Baldwin.

Tommy has his eye on the blossoming stars in the hip-hop industry and is seeing how much media attention they are receiving. During an interview at the Hot Pink Party, he mentioned his next goal clients. “Right now, I would love Chance [the Rapper] and Drake to wear my clothes… I just think they do great stuff. I think Cardi B is really cool and Nicki Minaj has done a great job.”

Chance the Rapper is not one to shy away from any fashion collaborations. He repped the Kenzo x H&M full collection for weeks after it’s launch. We will keep a look out for these rappers to stunt in Tommy.
