Ice Cube’s popular throwback hit “It Was A Good Day,” formerly known as “Today Was A Good Day” was released in February of 1993. The song was the second single from Ice Cube’s third studio album album, The Predator. The video which featured a climatic end to a smooth day for the California rapper was directed by F. Gary Gray who also directed this summer’s highly anticipated N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

Ice Cube’s “It Was A Good Day” served as part one of a two part video series. The sequel video, “Check Yo Self” was released in August of 1993. “It Was A Good Day” peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.
