Well well, look at this…

Reports from Marvel Comics have confirmed that the Spider-Man comic book series is set to relaunch this fall, but with a new reface. A new half-black/half-Puerto Rican, Miles Morales will replace Peter Parker as the cape less superhero.

In an interview with The Daily News, writer and co-creator, Brian Bendis stated

Many kids of color who when they were playing superheroes with their friends, their friends wouldnít let them be Batman or Superman because they donít look like those heroes but they could be Spider-Man because anyone could be under that mask, but now itís true. Itís meant a great deal to a great many people. Our message has to be itís not Spider-Man with an asterisk, itís the real Spider-Man for kids of color, for adults of color and everybody else.

Although this is the first time Morales will play Spidey, it’s not the first time he’s appeared in the series. Back in 2011 he appeared as the popular alternate version of Spider-Man in Ultimate Spider-Man, but now the biracial character will now be the protagonist in the comic series.

Marvel Comics gives Spider-Man a very special makeover. Find out the full details and more on Spidey’s new look here.
