Once upon a time, JAY Z nabbed himself a very talented and gorgeous singer from the UK in the form of Rita Ora. Despite eerily drawing comparisons to another artist groomed by JAY Z in Rihanna, many thought success would be imminent for her. While she has blessed the covers of many notable and reputable magazines, her success in the U.S. hasn’t pleased her nor her label Roc Nation.

With hopes of starting fresh, Ora sued Roc Nation for failing to release her out of her contract last month. She released her debut album Ora and watched it land the number one spot on the U.K. charts. The album never dropped in the U.S. and Ora has yet to produce another project since her 2012 effort. Even though Ora was banking on leaving Roc Nation swiftly, it appears that her dreams of chucking deuces, is quickly fading. In efforts of countering back, Roc Nation is suing Ora for failing to oblige to the demands of her contract.

The number Roc Nation is asking Rita to pay up is utterly ridiculous.

Roc Nation is seeking up to $2.4 million for Ora failing to her sophomore project, in addition to the three other albums she owes the label. When she signed to Roc Nation seven years ago, she signed a five-album deal. With Ora feverishly trying to sever ties with the label, this move by Roc Nation certainly stifles her chances of moving. The label says that they have spent $2.4 million on trying to produce, market, and release her long-awaited sophomore album that Ora has yet to release.

According to Ora’s lawyer, Howard King, Roc Nation isn’t being honest in regards to the messy ordeal at hand. “JAY Z has personally and graciously promised Rita complete freedom from Roc Nation, the details of which are now being finalized,” King said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “We believe that Roc Nation’s distributor, Sony Music, has required Roc Nation to file this action to preserve whatever rights Sony might have pending resolution.”

This is going to end up very, very messy. Will Rita get out? Please make sure to SHARE with your friends.
