Kendrick Lamar is still riding a wave of success that has yet to crash. Coming off the coattails of his award-winning album DAMN., Kendrick recently curated and produced for Black Panther: The Album, which features music from and inspired by the film.

Recently, Kendrick Lamar just wrapped up the European leg of his tour for DAMN. At one of the last stops of the tour in Oslo, Norway, Kendrick treated a fan to a special surprise. During a break in his performance, Kendrick walked up to the end of the stage in front of one of his front row fans and requested that one of the security guards hand him their phone.

The rapper proceeds to record a selfie video and shows the whole crowd in the background, including the phone’s owner. “We gon’ make sure we show the whole world,” he says. There was no trace of anything but love and appreciation in the video, which can be seen above.

This act may come as a surprise to some, seeing as a rumor was spread that Kendrick Lamar had banned the use of cell phones, stemming from an article published by The Guardian. The rumors turned out to be false after Interscope reps denied any such ban by Kendrick.

If you’re familiar with the character of Kendrick Lamar, it would be shocking if he had imposed such a ban. In the past, he’s had a particularly good track record when it comes to his relationship with his fans. Just last year, Kendrick went out of his way to make time for a special fan at a show in Dallas. The fan, Jennifer Phillips, is a quadriplegic, and gets around with a wheelchair. Kendrick invited her backstage, where he gifted her a signed jacket and let her know that he would be paying for a modified van for her to drive in.

So about last night… lol. If you know me or even just look in my Instagram profile for two minutes then you know I am a huge Kendrick Lamar and TDE fan/supporter for YEARS. I've been to every show Kendrick has had in Dallas including the first one that even he forgot about lol and one in Austin. That's 8 shows and not including the other TDE artists shows. I was a big fan of music and concerts before my injury but I never supported and loved a label like theirs before. Of course they have great music but they are also great people. None of them have ever treated me like a stranger or a charity case lol. I didn't meet them because I'm in a wheelchair. I just know great people (shout out to @bluethegreat for the initial in person introduction to Dot & Q). I never supported them for any benefits like this lol. Their music and shows were enough for me. But this is amazing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all and always will. Thank God for you Kendrick and I will continue to pray for you. And like I said, next time I'm driving myself to your show lol. Thanks to the whole team! #tde

Kendrick’s most recent act of kindness in Oslo is one of many that he’s shown throughout the course of his career. It won’t be surprising if Kendrick pops up again in the news with more positivity. Weigh in with your opinion in the comments below, and SHARE this article!
