Kendrick Lamar has accomplished a lot in the rap game, but there’s also so much more he’s doing outside of music that is making a real difference. In honor of his ways of giving back and helping others, the To Pimp A Butterfly MC is receiving the key to Compton, his home city. From his community service, to his desire to mentor more, K. Dot would certainly make someone like Martin Luther King Jr. proud on this national holiday celebrating him.

Why he deserves it
Kendrick doesn’t just simply pick up a microphone and spit some fire rhymes for his fans. The Compton rapper also takes a lot of time to give back to his city, and the youth that are growing up in the community. He donates a lot of time and effort to help mentor youth, working with organizations to keep encouraging others to get involved in the lives of those who may need it or could need it someday.
Why he is an outstanding rapper in community service
It’s not too often we get to see a rapper bearing the fruits of their labor with community service, but we are with K. Dot. The MC isn’t simply just donating money or showing up to an event to volunteer, but he is actually heavily involved with helping to build a better community. He actually talks to the youth, gives them advice, and even tries to give them opportunities.
