G.O.O.D. Music was set to hit the Summer Jam stage last night for Hot 97, but the night took an unexpected turn when Kanye West’s set over at the Governor’s Ball was cancelled. Fortunately for fans at the hip hop concert at MetLife Stadium, it freed the music producer to join his labelmates for their set in front of an arena of fans, who went into a frenzy at his surprise appearance. Following the show, however, is when the real mayhem ensued, and New York won’t ever be the same.
Here’s what happened when Kanye West shut the city down.
Kanye West surprised fans at Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert this weekend.
After the weather became too dangerous for fans attending Governor’s Ball, Yeezy headed over to Summer Jam to make up for his cancelled set at the festival. He came out with his G.O.O.D. Music brothers, including Pusha T, Big Sean, Desiigner, Travi$ Scott, and 2 Chainz, where they performed a slew of hits. Following his performance, Kanye set up a pop-up performance at Webster Hall, where he would make up for his Governor’s Ball performance by taking the stage for fans on a first come first serve basis.
The streets outside of Webster Hall were completely packed with fans.
Once word spread around, over 2500 fans flooded nearly 4 blocks as they all attempted to get a ticket to get inside the Manhattan concert venue. Unfortunately, the crowd soon became overwhelming for security, leading to NYPD and Webster Hall to shut the whole concert down altogether at 2 AM. While Kanye and fans were upset by the news, he didn’t let that stop him from trying to put on a show for his stans.
