Are they responsible for ending his career?
Rappers Ty Dolla $ign and YG have found themselves in hot water after a fight they were involved in back in 2015. The incident at a Melbourne, Australia night club was caught on camera and provides evidence that the two performers took part in a violent brawl outside the VIP area of a nightclub.
In attendance was a budding football star named Nelly Yoa, who received a beating from Ty, YG, and members of their crew after refusing the leave the VIP area. At the time Yoa was in contract talks with Melbourne City Football Club, but claims he missed out on the opportunity because of the beating he took.
TMZ has obtained letters from Yoa’s lawyer to the two rappers claiming that they are at fault for the loss of his (potentially) “substantial income.”

Ty and YG’s Relationship
Back in 2009, YG released his debut single “Toot It and Boot It” featuring a then unheard of Ty Dolla $ign. Both of the Los Angeles natives have been having successful careers respectively and collaboratively since then.
YG, DJ Mustard, and Ty Dolla $ign were involved in the founding of Pu$haz Ink, witch would evolve into the label 4Hunnid, a label that is now distributed by Interscope Records. Around 2015, the two were working with a wide variety of high profile artists from Mariah Carey to Drake.
Who is Nelly Yoa?
Nelly Yoa — the Sudanese athlete and community activist who is accusing the rappers of the beat down — was once a promising speedster in the soccer world. After playing in England, China, and Malta, Yoa returned to Australia to try out in his home country. In 2011 he was involved in a gang-related incident involving Sudanese thugs who attacked him with a machete, setting him back even farther.
With the help of friends like Usain Bolt, Yao was able to rehab his injuries and give professional soccer another shot. After major clubs passed on Yoa, he decided to give things a shot at the AFL (Australian Football League), but was ultimately unsuccessful in that as well.
Are YG and Ty to Blame?
It’s widely known that Nelly Yoa’s career was ended after he was brutally assaulted with a machete by the street gang
back in 2011. However new documents received by TMZ claim that Yoa is gearing up for a lawsuit by sending letters to Ty Dolla $ign and YG claiming that they “sidelined his career” at a club in 2015.
It should be noted that these letters are merely formality and not yet considered a law suit. Whether or not formal charges will be filed is yet to be determined, but for now there really isn’t much proof beyond the attached video above… which is ultimately pretty inconclusive.
In the video, taken by a security camera, we can see the beginnings of an altercation brewing somewhere outside of the VIP area of the Melbourne night club. As the fight erupts, Ty Dolla $ign is seen standing up from his seat in the corner of the booth. He springs into action and the fight escalates into an all-out brawl. According to these documents, it is believed that Nelly Yoa was somewhere in the mix and was punched and kicked multiple times by Ty, YG, and his crew.
Should the rappers be punished for beating up on fans or is this a hopeless cash grab for the former athlete? Let us know and SHARE.
