Travis' continues his never-ending beef with security guards
Travis $cott is for the children, provided that those children are his fans. The Rodeo rapper recently brought a concert to a screeching halt when he thought that security was being too rough on an enthusiastic fan of his.
The rapper was performing an acapella breakdown of his hit “Goosebumps,” rapping the chorus while the audience clapped. An enthusiastic fan jumped on the side stage and began jumping up and down, stomping the stage to the beat. He didn’t get to celebrate for long, as security grabbeg him by the ankles, yanked him off his feet and dragged him from the stage. Travis noticed the manhandling and stopped the show to give security a scolding.
“Hold on, hold on, hold on,” he said, halting the clapping fans before turning to the security guards. “Don’t ever touch my fans like that. He know what he trying to do. We know what he trying to do.”
The fan made his way back to the stage while pointing and nodding at Travis. When he walked back up onto the stage, one security guard maintained a hold on his arm.
“Let him go,” Scott admonished.
The thankful fan re-tied his headband that had been lost during the scuffle, then Scott began the clapping and singing again. The fan jumped much higher with the newly won approval of the rapper. When the beat finally came back in the fan leapt onto the heads of the raucous and energized pit near the stage.
Not a Fan Of Security
Scott has had trouble with security before. The rapper has developed a reputation for rowdier shows, which is bound to rub up against the folks whose job it is to keep attendees and artists from getting hurt. Back in 2015, he got into a back-and-forth with security at a show in Las Vegas.
“You can’t hold them back,” he yelled at concery security who were trying to keep a crowdsurfing fan from reaching the stage. “They can’t hold you back,” he encouraged the surfer. But when security did, in fact, hold him back, Travis decided he’d seen enough.
“Yo, leave this motherf*cker alone. All you green shirt motherf*ckers back the f*ck up,” he said. “Don’t you f*ck with us.”
He tapped one of the security guards on the head several times and eventually shoved one of the guards away from the stage.
Things haven’t always resolved as smoothly as they did at that Las Vegas show though. He’s been arrested for inciting riots multiple times, including incidents in Arkansas and Lollapalooza where he encouraged fans to rush the stage and break through security barriers. The riot in Arkansas left several fans, police officers and security guards injured.
“Chill, motherf*cker,” he said. “He’s with me.”
Watch the Clip
Scott’s security scuffles sometimes turn out alright; he just wants fans to get as rowdy as he is and that doesn’t always mean that people get hurt. If you need an example, check out the clip of his jumping fan up top.
What do you think? Should Travis cool it on beefing with security? Is he stopping people from just doing their jobs? Or is security being overzealous when they yank a fan like that? Let us know in the comments and be sure to SHARE this article.
