The Crips and Bloods are the two of the longest running, most violent and most popular gangs in the African-American community. Their longtime rivalry began in the 70s and has intensified throughout the years. But due to the outrageous violence that has occurred in our country, especially within the African-American community, two popular rappers who are affiliated with both sides of the gangs came together for peace. The Game and Snoop Dogg launched a peaceful rally, Operation H.U.N.T. (Hate Us Not Today), at the Los Angeles Police Department. They brought the L.A.-area Crips and Bloods together to refrain from violence unless it’s self-defense, amongst other things.
There are over 30,000 crips and over 800 sets. Bloods aren’t as large as Crips with about 20,000 members. Within those gangs lie a few of your favorite rapper. Some are active, some not so much, but they still rep their sets. The late greats, Nate Dogg and Eazy E, were actual Crip members. Nate Dogg was apart of the Rollin’ 20 Crips and Eazy E was apart of the Kelly Park Compton Crips.
