The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. TGIF. CD Walkmans. Layaway. Do any of these ring a nostalgic bell? They are only my favorite memories from the 90s. The 90s were great times that shaped our music, fashion, and culture. If you’re way too young to have experienced the joys of growing up in the 90s, let me introduce you to what you’ve missed. You may not think these fads were cool, but you have no idea.
One Pant Leg Rolled Up
It may look crazy as hell now, but this look used to be super popular. LL Cool J was one of the first rappers to rock this trend and make it look cool. Curren$y shouted the legend out when he rapped, “I keep one rolled up like LL’s pant leg.”
Okay, where I come from, we called these “biking shorts,” but whatev; Tomato, tomahto. These weren’t only work while biking. Guy who played ball would wear these under their ball shorts for extra security. Then people (like me as a kid) started wearing them on their own. But without it looking cheesy.
If you were a teenager and didn’t own a pair of Maritheé + François Girbaud jeans with a velcro strap, you were not cool. And to add to your coolness, they had to be denim.
