A new interview with Suge Knight trots out an old theory
On a new special about the deaths of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., Suge Knight once again reignited the rumor that Shakur never died.
While in an interview with Ice-T and Soledad O’Brien, Knight once again was skeptical about the official story that Shakur died after being shot on the Las Vegas strip. When O’Brien asked a question about Tupac’s death, Knight responded with “if he died.” That lead O’Brien to ask what Knight meant, so he explained things from his point of view.
“I mean, when I left that hospital, me and ‘Pac was laughing and joking,” he said. “So I don’t see how somebody could turn from doing well to doing bad.”
O’Brien then flatly asked if Knight thinks the rapper is still alive.
“I’ma tell you, with ‘Pac, you never know,” Suge responds.
No one can confirm if Suge Knight and Tupac were “laughing and joking,” but if it’s true the story would run counter to the story shared by the police officer who first responded to the scene after Tupac was shot.
Las Vegas Police Department’s Chris Carroll was a bike cop working the strip and happened to be the first officer on the scene. However, the way he describes Tupac’s state on the scene doesn’t make it seem like he would be capable of talking to Knight.
“So I grabbed him with my left arm, and he falls into me, and I’ve still got my gun in the other hand,” Carroll said. “He’s covered with blood, and I immediately notice that the guy’s got a ton of gold on — a necklace and other jewelry — and all of the gold is covered in blood. That has always left an image in my mind.
“After I pulled him out, Suge starts yelling at him, ‘Pac! Pac!’ And he just keeps yelling it. And the guy I’m holding is trying to yell back at him. He’s sitting up and he’s struggling to get the words out, but he can’t really do it. And as Suge is yelling ‘Pac!,’ I look down and I realize that this is Tupac Shakur.”

After Carrol repeatedly asked the rapper who shot him, he relayed the following scene:
“And then I saw in his face, in his movements, all of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed,” he said. “And he went from struggling to speak, being noncooperative, to an ‘I’m at peace’ type of thing. Just like that. . . He went from fighting to ‘I can’t do it.’ And when he made that transition, he looked at me, and he’s looking right in my eyes. And that’s when I looked at him and said one more time, ‘Who shot you?’. . . He looked at me and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out: ‘F**k you.’”
That doesn’t sound like a description of a man who would be laughing hours later. But maybe he had a high-energy moment before passing.
