Such a Special Day in Hip-Hop
Last December, it was reported that Tupac was eligible to be inducted into the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Pearl Jam, Journey, and more classic musicians. The news sparked major controversy. Musicians from different genres chimed in, exclaiming that Pac isn’t worthy of the induction just yet.
Surprisingly, one of hip-hip’s own Chuck D took to social media to say that while he loves and respects Tupac, he thinks LL Cool J should have gotten the honor first. Well, their opinions didn’t matter because next month, Tupac Amaru Shakur will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in Brooklyn. To make the event even more special, Pac’s old friend and former collaborator will be paying tribute.
Next month, on April 7, Tupac will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Brooklyn. Pac’s former collaborator and friend Snoop Dogg will be the one to induct him.
Sources reported that the “2 of Amerika’s Most Wanted” rapper, who collaborated with Tupac on the song, is also set to perform at next month’s induction. Dr. Dre, who along with N.W.A., was inducted into the Rock Hall in 2016, is also a possible performer.
That’s right. Dr. Dre will possibly join Snoop in performing during Pac’s special day. If he’s confirmed, he will participate in a three-song musical tribute that would include Dre and Pac’s 1996 hit “California Love.”
