Big Things Ahead

K. Michelle has been active since 2009. The 33-year-old was welcomed into the R&B scene after signing with Jive Records. Her record deal produced singles like “Fakin’ It,” “Fallin,” and “I Just Can’t Do This.” Though her tracks earned spots on the charts, K. Michelle was still considered a bit of an underdog.

So, she kept working.

She joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in 2012, which set her up to ink a new deal with Atlantic Records. Under her shiny new contract, she released Rebellious Soul, an album that hit no. 2 on the Billboard 200 and no. 1 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

Her following albums — Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart? and More Issues Than Vouge — did comparatively well, but still…

The R&B singer, songwriter, and television personality felt the need to reinvent herself to be better incorporated in the business world. In October of this year, reports that K. Michelle was going back under the knife hit the internet. Born Kimberly Pate, the singer decided to size down her derrière.

During an interview with LoveBScott years back, the star said she wanted her “normal shape back” because she didn’t want people “looking down at my a**” during business meetings or gatherings. She also said that she didn’t want her shape to prevent her from branching out into movies.

Now, she’s doing it again… this time, with a new name.
