Flipping the Bird
This Birdman beef has gone on for quite some time now. He started getting on people’s nerves last year, including his “son” Lil Wayne and even Drake. Now Rick Ross is joining in, and to no one’s surprise he’s against Birdman.
Rick Ross says that Birdman used to be one of his idols, but all that has changed now, and he’s letting his feelings be heard around the world through his new album. After all the Trump and Snoop Dogg nonsense, it’s great to get back to rappers hating on other rappers, right?
It seems to be the time for diss tracks nowadays. Drake and Meek, Nicki and Remy, the list goes on. And now, we can add in Rick Ross and Birdman.
Birdman has been the center of attention since he demanded some “respec” to be put on his name. Rick Ross dishes out a lot of things on the new track, but “respec” definitely isn’t one of them.
Idols Become Rivals
The track is titled “Idols Become Rivals,” implying that Rick looked up to Birdman at one point, but he makes it clear that it was all in the past.
“I used to see you n***s on my TV screen
And wondered what was life like, was it all a dream?
And then I met you out on Livenation dates
Came to the realization that your watch was fake
Damn… you nearly broke my heart
I really thought you n****s really owned them cars”
Ricky Ross is obviously trying to pull the feathers off Birdman, and only time will tell if it’s working.
Ross defended his friend Lil Wayne in the track, saying:
“I pray you find the kindness in your heart for Wayne
His entire life, he gave you what there was to gain
I watched this whole debacle so I’m part to blame
Later request, can all producers please get paid?”
