Troubles of a Bawse
The Teflon Don might be in trouble. In a report issued by TMZ , it’s suggested that Rick Ross was hospitalized due to health complications. It is alleged that a 911 call went out at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday from Ross’ Miami residence, with the caller reporting that Rick Ross (or “the man in distress,” as he’s referred to in the article) was breathing heavy, unresponsive, and “slobbing at the mouth.”
The caller included that they tried to wake him up and that the “man in distress” had a history of seizures, which Rick Ross has been documented to have. According to law enforcement, he became combative once he came to. It’s reported that Rozay was transported to the hospital via ambulance where he received respiratory treatment, possibly for pneumonia. A source claims that his medical issue may be heart-related.
The “Man in Distress”
The fact that the article refers to the man who is presumably Rick Ross as the “man in distress” may be because TMZ is concerned with slandering Ross’ reputation and getting themselves in legal trouble, especially if there’s any falsehoods that made their way through. While health issues like these shouldn’t be a source of shame, having your health issues be a topic open for public scrutiny probably wouldn’t be that enjoyable for most people, including Rick Ross.
With that said, it’s not surprising that the report of this incident includes how a family member “strongly denied” that Rick was hospitalized. Regardless of if he was or wasn’t, there’s a good chance that the family member is looking out for the rapper’s privacy.
While it is unknown how often Ross as experienced health issues throughout the years, the last issue that was highly publicized occurred back in 2011, when the rapper suffered two different seizures in the same day. Rozay recalls the incident in an interview on the Dr. Oz Show:
“One day, I was on a flight and, I just remember my buddy coming to get me, like, ‘Get up, homie, you just had a seizure. Let’s go. We got to get off the plane,’” he recalled. “And I’m like, ‘No… I don’t feel like I had one.’ So I actually got on the phone, called my private jet guy, 45 minutes later, after getting off a commercial flight, I was aboard in a private plane. I boarded a private plane. An hour into the flight, soon as I fell asleep, I had another seizure.”
Ross went on to say that waking up two or three days later with his mother by his signs woke him up to a new reality. He noted that his lifestyle of sleeping three hour nights and 3 a.m. T-bone steaks caught up with him, and that his body couldn’t take it anymore. This incident led to him turning his life around and pursuing a healthy lifestyle.
“Shout Out to All the Pear”
Over time, Ross shed 100 pounds, and the media took notice. His transformation actually led to a popular meme: remember “shout out to all the pear”? That quote came from a Tim Westwood TV interview with Rick Ross explained his new health habits. In the interview, he explains how he still eats what he wants but includes CrossFit in his schedule, or as he likes to call it, “RossFit”.
