What was he thinking?
Journalists try their best to adhere to a code of ethics. They work hard to be seen as objective and emotionless, reporting the news of the day with no clear dog in the fight. But every once in a while a reporter gets a little dog in him — like this journo who challenged Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle to a fight.
It all started when KRON4 reporter Henry Wofford mocked Diddy’s offer to buy the Carolina Panthers. Wofford said that he couldn’t take Diddy seriously as he appeared to be inebriated in the offer video. Nipsey responded to the broadcast with a video saying that he wanted in on the Panthers deal and that he would “beat” Wofford for trashing Diddy.
That’s when things went full Twitter Fingers, with Wofford and Nipsey going back and forth about a possible fight. According to TMZ, Wofford was ready to throw down in some since-deleted tweets.
“I saw you on @TMZ saying you’ll beat me down when you see me. Here’s your opportunity. I’m old school and only fight for a cause,” Wofford said. “Let’s raise money for the Black Community. We can box or go MMA style in a celebrity fight. Hug when it’s over. Let me know time and place!”
Nipsey gave a four-point response:
“1st: I’ll beat yo white washed Samuel L Jackson in DJANGO a**
2nd: We rejected you from the black community after you COON’d you own people to try to fit in on mainstream TV.
3rd: I don’t hug Uncle Toms.
4th: You ain’t hard enough … & yo knuckles ain’t scared enough.”
All that being said, Nipsey was still down if the money was right.
“Make the prize at least 5 mill and I’ll do it in between my album promo … teach this b*tch a lesson and when I knock cuz out he gotta play the story of OJ by Jay Z any time he on air,” Nipsey said.
It seems like Wofford has cooled off since the initial interaction. He issued a public apology to Diddy on KRON4 and also apologized for any ill effect it had on his co-workers.
“Sean Combs has a long history of success in the music industry and he has done a wonderful job investing millions of dollars in multiple businesses. He has a great reputation for making large donations to help the community. He’s a man who has worked from the bottom to the top and for that I respect his accomplishments. My comment was never intended to downplay what Diddy Combs has accomplished as an entrepreneur nor was it intended to question what he’s capable of accomplishing in the future. Sean Diddy Combs has the work ethic, wisdom, dedication and contacts to be a successful NFL owner.”
Wofford added that he promises “to learn from his mistake.” So, it looks like this fight isn’t happening. But you can still see the video that kicked this whole thing off up top.
How do you feel about it? Did Wofford’s bosses pull the plug on his prize fight? Who would win in a fight between Nipsey and Wofford? Is Nipsey that desperate for promo that he’s picking fights with local news dudes? Sound off in the comments and be sure to SHARE this article.
