Queen Latifah is someone who has gone through quite a lot in her years. The 47-year-old actress and singer has been seen everywhere across the globe for everything from hit songs to hit movies. Years ago she lost her brother in a tragic motorcycle incident, and she felt a substantial amount of guilt because of her involvement. She found an interesting way to get over things, and you’ll be surprised when you find out what she did.
Queen Latifah lost her brother in a motorcycle accident when she was just 22 years old. Lancelot Jr. died from the injuries in the crash, and she felt an incredible amount of guilt because of the fact that she was the one who bought him the bike he was riding at the time.
She says that she turned her back on God at first. She spiraled out of control into a dark world of alcohol and drugs, but things would turn around for her eventually.
“That loss, man I was rocked to the core,” she said when she sat down with Simple Grace magazine for an interview. “I felt guilty because I got angry at God. But you know, he loves me anyway, even though I’m no saint and I’m far from perfect.”
“Understanding that God never leaves us helped me realize my brother was in a better place. In life, you’ll go through ups and downs, but you will come back up eventually,” she continued.
The Chicago star said that she is a changed person now, and finding God again really helped her move on with her life after such a tragic loss.
She said, “My schedule can be so full, it would be overwhelming… So I’ve come to learn the importance of staying in the moment and being present where I am. I focus on all of life’s joyful little things like a good meal or an unexpected text from a loved one.”
