Could Usher have really disseminated his disease?
It seems like the most legendary R&B singers right now just can’t catch a break. People are saying that R. Kelly is running a whole cult of women as slaves that cater to his every whim, blinded by their adoration for him. And now, three people are accusing Usher of giving them a disease that he very well knew he had. Two have remained anonymous, but the one who decided to speak out against Usher in public has been deemed a liar even by her own mother. The plot is so thick you can’t even see through it.
Breaking the Law
It all started a few days ago when a young woman named Quantasia Sharpton held a press conference with the celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom to say that not only did she have sexual relations with the famed singer Usher, who exposed her to the herpes virus, but that he did it with another woman and a man without telling any of them about his status. It’s illegal to have sex with someone and not tell them about the diseases you know you have.
It would seem like these three people would have a case based on that law, but there’s a few holes in the story that make it seem unlikely that they’ll win out.
Earlier this year, a woman sued Usher for $20 million after finding out she was infected with herpes that she believes came from her two encounters with him. The case is still pending.
Quantasia and her co-plaintiffs then filed suit in Los Angeles, and their lawsuit states that they had sex with him “because Raymond [Usher] was a revered celebrity in their eyes who believed could be loved and trusted.” They all claim that Usher did not disclose his herpes status at any time, but they did learn that he may have settled a similar lawsuit with a woman in 2009.
Quantasia, who also goes by the name Angel Valentino, stated about her case in a press conference that Usher allowed her backstage at a concert about two years ago because it was her birthday. They met up later that night. She said, “I would have not taken a risk of getting an incurable disease. My health is very important to me.”
Lack of Evidence
Usher has remained very quiet about all of these allegations, and it may be because he wants to fight back with defamation lawsuits. Though it was a big deal in 2009 when documents came out showing that Usher was being sued by his former babysitter Maya Fox-Davis, there really isn’t too much evidence showing that he actually settled with her for the million dollars she was seeking. All that can be found is a check issued to her for a few thousand bucks which is assumed to be for her babysitting/styling services.
His April 2017 accuser is seeking $20 million, but there has been little information released about her case. She has chosen to remain anonymous, but disclosed that she tested positive for herpes after her two unprotected sexual encounters with Usher. She’ll have to prove that it was he who infected her.
And it looks like Quantasia’s own mom finally blew a big hole in everyone’s case…
