It's a Barbie world
While Nicki and Taylor belong to completely different genres, they share a common goal.
Nicki has been a big name in the rap game for around a decade now and she shows no signs of slowing down. Taylor Swift has also been a huge name across the music world with a huge following and a huge paycheck. Both women have had extreme success in their respecitves careers, but when it comes to the charts, Nicki has made a sprint to the top that may continue for a long time.
A Swift Kick
Up until now, Taylor Swift held the title for having the second-most Billboard Hot 100 appearances for a woman. But now her time as #2 is all but done. Why? With a strong 2016, Nicki Minaj has clawed her way up into the ranks of greatness and seems like she’s going to keep going until she hits the top.
No Slowing Down
Nicki Minaj has been releasing hit after hit and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Previously, Nicki and Taylor were tied for second, but Minaj pulled away and is now sitting all alone at the second spot. Now being only two behind the #1 spot, we can’t help but think Nicki is going to pick her game up.
Nicki’s recent feature on Major Lazer’s song, “Run Up”, made her 71st entry in the top 100, one more than Taylor Swift’s count of 70. For women, only Aretha Franklin has more, with 73 entries. Being so close, it looks like Taylor and Nicki might be battling it out at the top in the coming years.
