Nelly denies any wrongdoing
Nelly’s accuser has come forward with details of the alleged incident of sexual abuse that led to him being arrested on October 7. In a story shared to TMZ, the Washington woman claimed that the rapper took advantage of her on his tour bus after they met at a nightclub.
She also claims that Nelly invited her to an after-party but instead took her to his tour bus. She says that when the rapper tried to have s*x with her, she declined. At that point, she says that the rapper told her to “shut up” and proceeded to have unprotected s*x with her.
She claims that she was offered money afterward, which she also declined. At that point, she was tossed off the bus, with someone on the bus tossing $100 at her.
Nelly’s lawyer Scott Rosenblum told the gossip website that the story is false and that the woman is merely seeking fame.
“It does not surprise me that she wanted to have her story publicized. That is playbook 101 of a person with an agenda and clearly she has one. The agenda is money, fame and notoriety,” he said. “We will be able to show by objective evidence and unbiased witnesses that she has zero credibility,” he continued. “She’s a person who is making a dangerous, fraudulent allegation to accomplish her own goals.”
How this jibes with sharing a story anonymously was not addressed.
Though he was arrested over the weekend in relation to the case, he was not charged and has since been released.
Nelly has denied the allegations on Twitter:
“Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation.I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at , it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation…I do want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation. I also want to thank my fans for their unwavering support. They know me. I assure you I will be vindicated. And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim. Thank you”
Nelly, who is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line, also headed up any stories that might claim he posted bail to be released.
“To be absolutely clear. I have not been charged with a crime therefore no bail was required,” he said. “I was released, pending further investigation.”
What do you think?
Nelly is the second high-profile rapper to be hit with allegations of sexual assault in recent months. Mystikal was arrested on similar charges stemming from an incident in Shreveport, LA last year. While several people who were around Mystikal the night of the incident have denied any wrongdoing, authorities found enough evidence to arrest and book the rapper.
Mystikal had previously served a sentence for sexual battery after attacking his hairstylist in the early ‘00s. However, he maintains his innocence in this current case as do the people who were near him on the night in question.
