Mozzy's kicking a bad habit
Mozzy is tossing out his cough syrup habit with the old year. The rapper took to instagram to announce that he’s off of lean and poured out a bottle on video.
“On my momma, n*gga, it’s been like 10, 12 days or some sh*t. I don’t know but it’s been hard to kick that sh*t, I ain’t gonna lie,” he said.
“We still bricked up, though. I had a couple bricks in the closet,” he continued, before opening the bottle and pouring it out on the ground. “Any young n*gga doing this shit, you understand me, this sh*t will force you to stop. If it don’t, drink a lot of water at the minimum.”
“F**k that cup,” he added. “They say health is wealth. I need my bag.” He then tossed the bottle into the puddle and walked away.
Some fans were quick to disbelieve Mozzy, pointing out that he didn’t look like he was in the middle of withdrawal.
“His message is invalid if he’s going to pull up some fake juice out of a fake bottle and tell people about the side effects I’ve been in the hospital countless times from withdrawals I know how that s*** is keep it 100 most likely he went back home and pulled up and real bottle and just shows all the fake ones keep your eyes woke!” wrote user @thereal_bobbyhill.
However, if Mozzy really is leaving his addictions behind, he’d merely be the latest in a string of rappers who have decided it’s not worth it.
The death of Lil Peep from a drug overdose late last year caused many rappers to re-examine their relationship with illicit substances. Following his overdose on a mixture of fentanyl and Xanax, plenty of bar-loving rappers decided to try to kick the habit.
Lil Uzi Vert gave fans a window into his first day sober.
“We Would love 2 stop ….. But Do You Really Care Cause We Been On Xanax All F–king Year,” Uzi wrote on Twitter. “Rip Buddy I 100% Understand and I Don’t Fault U.”
“Sober 2 day I have been shaking. I have been cursing my love ones out and fighting/In the studio with no thoughts in my head. Teeth biting down because I just wanna be angry at something,” he said. “Maybe I will just smoke weed tonight.”
Following that same lead, Lil Pump and Smokepurpp also announced that Xans were a 2017 thing.
“2018 we going even more crazy love yall. (Btw I don’t take xanz no more f*ck Xanax 2018),” wrote the “Gucci Gang” rapper.
“We leaving Xanax in 2017,” added Purpp.

The turn was particularly surprising from the pair because they had made the drug such a big part of their brand. Pump got a green Xanax cake to celebrate hitting a million followers on Instagram. Purpp dragged the anti-drug rapper Russ when he posted a message against the glamorization of drug abuse in the wake of Peep’s death.
“Shut the f*ck up. You a b*tch,” he wrote on Twitter after the rapper asked artists to stop glorifying drug use. “I been doing those things and I’m a Harvard graduate.”
