Further proving that rappers and taxes simply don’t mix, Ma$e just got handed not one but two tax liens. On the heels of reports surrounding Master P and DMX’s tax issues walks in news that the Bad Boy rapper’s poor money management from the early 2000s has finally caught up with him.
Oh, what’s a bad boy to do now?
Inside sources told theJasmineBRAND that the Florida native failed to pay his taxes for 2004 and 2007. While the report didn’t include which property or assets the IRS is planning to lay claim to, it did give the amount the rapper is expected to pay.
Born Mason Drell Betha, the Spliffmeister rapper owes over $31 thousand in back taxes from 2007. The original total was only $16 thousand, but after nearly 11 years of ignoring the bill, the interest added up.
Ignoring the Facts
More than that, the 40-year-old has a lien for about $2,500, stemming from the 2004 tax year. However, the interest of this total (after nearly 15 years) brought the balance to a cool $33 thousand.
Both liens were filed in Georgia early January.
The rapper has yet to respond to the news. Instead, he boasted about his night out at the Grammys on Instagram. “#Mase x #Grammy,” he captioned a video of himself partying.
Just yesterday (Jan. 30), news that Master P was hit with a tax lien hit the internet. The ex No Limit head reportedly owes the IRS about $1.5 million.
According to The Blast, Percy Miller had been ignoring the bills for well over a decade. “Master P owes taxes from 2004 ($1,199,769.48), 2005 ($305,245.73) and 2008 ($4,447.50). The grand total for the unpaid taxes comes to $1,509,462.71,” the outlet reported.
Neither Ma$e nor Percy must have been paying attention when DMX went through his tiff with the IRS… very publicly.
