Moving On and Up
There are many things you can not call Mariah Carey. Some examples would be: poor, untalented, and a client of Stella Bulochnikov. Oh, yeah… The star’s manager since 2013, Stella, has officially been let go.
Alongside Brian Sher, Stella has managed Mariah to the best of her abilities for the last four years. The former manager, who originally comes from a background in television production, was the brains behind Mariah’s reality show Mariah’s World, executively producing the series with three other producers and Mariah herself.
Like Mariah’s World, all good things must come to an end though. Tailing news that megastar Mariah has “cleaned house,” the “Always Be My Baby” singer has reportedly signed with Roc Nation. They say Mariah’s powers strengthen during Christmastime… Let’s see how true that is.
Living Better Now
Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, has everything Mariah could ever need, including a record label, talent agency, touring and concert production company, music, film and television production company, and a music publishing house. Headed out of New York, the company boasts artist like Rihanna, J. Cole, T.I. and Will Smith’s kids, Willow and Jaden Smith.
Hopefully Roc Nation can give Mariah a closer-knit family. With her previous management, she disliked not knowing exactly who was in charge of her career. “Previously, there were all kinds of people involved [in her career] and Mariah didn’t even know those people. She had to distance herself from all that and she’s now cleaning house,” an anonymous source close to Mariah said.
“She is getting legitimate people, assistants, a lawyer, and Stella is not happy about it,” the source continued.
After news of the breakup hit the internet, accusations that Stella was really only out for fame herself started stirring around. Before Stella was inducted into Mariah’s inner circle, she was a standup comedian. She was even a contestant on the fourth season of the reality competition show Last Comic Standing.
“I love the babies! I want to have more kids, really, I do! I just can’t take the pain, and the nausea and all that weight,” she joked on the show in 2006. “And I’m not talking about the nine months of being pregnant, I’m talking about the two minutes the old man’s on top of me.”
Her time on Last Comic Standing didn’t last long, leading her to get into television. Working under her maiden name, Stella Stolper, she went on to executively produce episodes of America’s Most Smartest Model, Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School, 50 Cent: The Money and the Power, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle and even Nicki Minaj’s mini-series Nicki Minaj: My Truth.
By the time Mariah’s World came into play, Stella had tons of reality television experience. However, she never got the fame those around felt she wanted. “Stella is the one who really wants to be the reality star. She even filmed a pilot for herself last year,” an anonymous source who claimed to work with Stella told Page Six earlier this year. “Stella is the furthest thing from a manager. She’s a TV producer. She’s practically moved in with Mariah and now she has so much stuff on her that she can get her to do anything. She’s pulling the strings, and Mariah does whatever she says.”
Hopefully Mariah finds better luck with Roc Nation and her brand new staff. What’s the first thing you think Mariah will do under her new management? Tell us your thoughts in the comments and SHARE this article.
