Most of the cast is changing
The next season of Love & Hip-Hop: New York will be largely unrecognizable to long-time watchers of the show. According to MediaTakeOut the show is in the middle of a huge shakeup of their cast.
The gossip website reports that the only people who are returning to the long-running Mona Scott program are Yandy Smith-Harris, Mariahlynn, Bianca Bonnie, Juliet “Juju” C., and Felicia “Snoop” Pearson.
That means Major, J. Adrienne, Erika DeShazo, Samantha Wallace and Hennessey are all gone. And, as you might expect, the show will have one massive “regular, degular, schmegular”-sized hole at its center.
Cardi B almost definitely won’t be returning to the show, given her sudden glow-up. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper is too busy booking shows and dodging questions about her beau Offset to continue to float in the LHHNY universe.
Coupled with her talents, the rapper rose to fame via her social media presence. It was clear from the beginning that Cardi B was bigger than the show, it just took a while for things to fall into place.
Given her ceaseless grind, it’s easy to see why she would be heated when people suggested she slept her way to fame.
“I got put on doing videos and people following me. Did I f**k my followers? Did I f**k Mona Scott to be on Love & Hip Hop? Y’all n**gas really need to stop discrediting my s**t,” she said. “I wish I f**ked myself to where I’m at right now. That s**t would have been easy. Who’s that powerful that I could have f**ked to get to where I’m at? Let me know.”
Here Comes New Blood
Remy Ma and Papoose are also heading for the exit.
With her finding the spotlight again via a beef with Nicki Minaj, it seems like the Terror Squad affiliate doesn’t need to be hawking her wares on VH1 anymore.
But lest you think that the show is just going to be a small-scale affair, you should know that the departed are quickly being replaced. In fact, the new cast is larger than its previoius iteration. While seven cast members are bolting, they’ll be replaced by eight more newcomers.
MTO reports that Sophia Body, Anais, Ashley Diaz, Jonathan Fernandez, Ayisha Diaz, Dream Doll and Britney F. Taylor will join the cast. If you’re double-checking my math, just wait a second. The biggest name to ride in on the new wave is Safaree, Nicki Minaj’s former flame.
Of course, all of this is unconfirmed. We still don’t even know when Season 8 of the long-running reality series will appear, but if the rumors are true, it will be a wildly different show from the one we remember.
What do you think? Will you be watching after all of these cast members leave? Do you have the energy to reinvest in all these new characters now that long-lived favorites are bailing? Will you watch literally anything that Mona Scott puts her stamp on, knowing that it will be appropriate levels of messy?
