Heard Loud and Clear, LL.
When most celebrities have issues with one another’s work, they tend to gossip or drop subtle shade. As we see with rappers like Kanye, Drake, and LL Cool J, when rappers have issues, they tend to take to social media or any platform they can get to tell it like it is.
And that’s exactly what LL Cool J did. On Monday, he got on Twitter and send a pretty aggressive warning, saying exactly what he thought about new wave rappers.
Retired or Not?
It’s hard to keep up with LL Cool J’s constant indecision about his retirement. As early as 1998, the hip-hop celebrity had been thinking about retiring.
In 2016, he tweeted, “Today I officially retired from music. Thank you for the love.”
Maybe new-wave rappers are what made it so hard for him to stay in retirement, because he felt they were messing up the genre he’d worked so hard on his entire life.
In an anything-but-subtle threat to new wave rappers, who he didn’t name, LL told all of his fans how he really feels about new wave rap.
“If I hear one more terrible rap record I’m gonna have to do it to these meatballs,” he tweeted.
If you can get past the fact that he used the term “meatballs,” it’s pretty clear that he’s not messing around.
A Deleted Rant
LL went on a long rant that he has since deleted, but the important tweets are still public.
“There’s about 5or 6 new rappers out here that I like. The rest are trash,” he tweeted. We wonder who those 5 or 6 new rappers he likes are.
In the deleted tweets, he talked up the music he’s working on, including a tweet that read “I want fans vs haters to start making wagers on my next album… my day 1s should bet big. I got this.”
