This is heartwarming
Lil Yachty just did a show and spent the check on his mama.
The rapper shared a text message between himself and his mom, where his mother gushed over the rapper buying her a house. Along with a picture of the keys to her new digs, Mama Boat told her son how lucky she felt to be his mom.
“You did it! You bought yo mama a house today, for real!” she wrote. “I am so grateful to you for everything you have done for me! Words can not explain how warm my heart is today! You have blessed me beyond measure! I love you so much!” “I’m so humble God picked me to be your mom!” she added.
Yachty has repeatedly rapped about doing right by his mom with his money. On Lil Boat 2, the rapper explicitly promised to buy his mom a house. “Made it out my momma crib, then bought my moms a crib,” he rapped on one hook, which he repeated as the caption of his Instagram post.
Fans couldn’t help but be caught up in Lil Yachty’s joyous moment.
“A real man takes care of his momma, respect bro,” wrote one.
“THAT’S THE DEFINITION OF GANGSTA,” wrote another.
But, of course, even this ultra-upbeat moment couldn’t help but draw a few haters. This is the internet we’re talking about after all. Even Yachty’s unabashed positivity in all things can’t deter trolls.
Not All Good
“Thank your daddy for knowing Coach K,” wrote one such troll. “No talent lol. Industry plant.”
Maybe that troll should have listened to the rest of the song Yachty was quoting. “N*ggas hate on me because I live the way I do,” he raps. “Hatin’ on ’em n*gga, ain’t gon’ make a better you.”
Maybe the user was an old head. The gate-keeping older fans of hip-hop can’t seem to wrap their minds around the young and bouncy musician or his fans.
In fact, talking about those old fans is one of the few times that Yachty let his positive veneer slip.
“Just don’t listen to it, but don’t knock it. You knocking it cause you don’t understand it,” he said in an interview about all the hate he receives. “I’m not talking about old rappers. I’m talking about old people in general. It’s so many old people that be commenting on my radio interviews. They’re mad because nobody raps like Scarface anymore. F**king Ghostface Killah. No one cares, bro!”
However, Yachty has at least one prominent detractor among his own generation. Kodak Black trashed the rapper recently.
“Listen, these fake rappers. Hey listen here man… Listen,” he said. “I got some more albums coming out. I am not like these other n***as, I don’t even listen to Uzi, these n***as d**k in the booty, they confusing the community… I don’t even listen to Yachty, he don’t even be dropping no knowledge.”
“My problem is I don’t give a f**k,” he added, in case that wasn’t clear. “I don’t care what anybody is saying. I don’t feel nothin bout this sh*t… Know what I mean.”
