Kim backed Jermaine's story
Jermaine Dupri’s account of a violent altercation between Lil Kim and Biggie raised more than a few eyebrows. People were quick to disbelieve the story about the rap icon that painted him in such a negative light — especially since the rapper is no longer around to defend himself.
Lil Kim is still kicking, though. The star recently confirmed Dupri’s version of events in an interview with Hot 97. Kim said that their relationship as a whole was troubled and that the outburst during this particular recording session was nothing special.
“We did have a very violent relationship. I hate that for a while that was like all I attracted was violent — yeah. It is what it is,” she said.
The Actual Incident
Kim went on to confirm the story of Biggie pulling a gun on her. She started by explaining why Big had a habit of stopping by during her recording sessions:
“First of all, when I was going to do the song with Jermaine…Biggie wasn’t even involved in that. He put himself there. He came because he just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to have any eyes for Usher or Jermaine [laughs]. And everybody knows I get busy with the pen, but I loved when Big used to come and persuade some of my raps, ’cause he’s the freakin’ greatest; why wouldn’t I? Of course! But everybody knows…all my hit records, [‘All About The Benjamins’], ‘Get Money,’ ‘Crush On You’ — all me.” (via Hot 97)
She explained that he was extremely jealous and extremely invested in her career — something that she appreciated — but she didn’t appreciate it when those drop-ins turned nasty. “[I]t always turned into a lover’s quarrel or a lover’s nest,” Kim revealed. “Although I wanted him to be there to make sure my sh-t was tight, my music, everything got to be tight, but a lot of times, it wasn’t the best thing,” she said.
“[T]hat day was one of the days where it probably wasn’t the best thing,” she concluded.

Kim said she’s learned how to deal with personalities as large as Biggie’s since her younger years and won’t allow herself to get into a similar situation now ,saying she’s “not proud” of how she handled that relationship.
She also took some of the blame of the deceased rapper. She dove deep into her belief in astrology, attributing Biggie’s outbursts to his star sign:
“Now I’m going to tell you, BIG was a Gemini. All I know is Geminis. I’ve learned how to really deal with Geminis, and Geminis really are two people. They’re good people too but when they turn into that other person, it’s so hard to identify who that other person is.
Biggie was like that. He’d love you to death. I know he loved me to death. But he was in between thinking he had to be some way sometimes and being who he really was.”
